What is Invent for Humanity?

Invent for Humanity transfers life-changing Appropriate Technology to benefit the developing world.

The Center for Applied Innovation (CAI) has partnered with several organizations, creating the Invent for Humanity Ecosystem for Impact. The Ecosystem works together, along with participating Needs Organizations and Technology Providers, to create Campaigns.

What is Appropriate Technology?

Technologies designed with special considerations to the environmental, ethical, cultural, social, political, and economical aspects of the community it is intended for.

Appropriate Technology sought for Invent for Humanity is generally: implemented without specialized training; repairable with locally-available resources; extendable within local constraints; require no or commonly-used power sources; limited to consumable donations of single-dosages (such as vaccines); and contain little to no salvage value.

Examples of such technologies include: Q Drum, Solar Ear, d.light, and the Embrace Cocoon.

How can my organization participate?

There are several ways to participate in Invent for Humanity.

If you represent a Needs Organization specializing in deploying appropriate technologies in developing economies, please submit your organization for consideration.

If you represent a Technology Provider that develops appropriate technologies for deployment in developing economies, please nominate your technology for consideration.

If your organization’s experience, skills & insights could benefit the Invent for Humanity Ecosystem for Impact, please contact Kristi Stathis to discuss potential partnerships & participation.

How can I submit an Appropriate Technology?

If you or your organization have an Appropriate Technology and would like to take part in the Invent for Humanity Technology Transfer Exchange Fair, please complete a Technology Nomination form.

If you represent a Needs Organization specializing in deploying Appropriate Technologies in developing economies, please submit your organization for consideration.

What is the LESI Global Technology Impact Forum or GTIF?

The LESI Global Technology Impact Forum is hosted by the Board of the Licensing Executives Society International (LESI), and designed to coordinate and publicize the efforts of premier global non-governmental organizations dedicated to the promotion of intellectual property licensing and technology transfer for the betterment of mankind.

Concurrent with the Invent for Humanity Technology Transfer Exchange Fair, GTIF is the first-ever event bringing together a renowned collection of technology leaders in order to encourage active collaboration across organizations in order to further the common goal of advancing the business of intellectual property globally.
